The Phase 5 design team shaped the Chip with turned down rails, which helps the board stay up out of the water on the foil. This is a unique feature found only on the Chip and goes hand in hand with its smaller surface area. The team at Phase 5 also equipped the Chip with foot straps to give the rider a stronger connection to the board for even more responsive turns. If you want a more freeform riding experience the straps can be removed and the P5 Techno Grip Traction V2 alone gives a very tactile connection to the board.
